The Acceleration

An American ground invasion of Iran would be a disaster. That’s the plan.

We are only a week into this war, and Trump is already keen on a ground invasion of Iran. There are reports that American special forces are embedded with the Kurds, and the Americans and Israelis are bombarding police stations and military bases in northwest Iran to pave the way for a Kurdish invasion from Iraq. Today, there are rumors circulating that American soldiers have received their deployment orders.

Two years ago, I predicted a disastrous US ground invasion of Iran. It is not a surprise to me that the relentless air-strikes of the Americans and Israelis are neither degrading the Iranian military’s will to fight nor the population’s sense of unity. Nor is it a surprise that this war has expanded into a regional conflagration, and that Russia is providing Iran with targeting intelligence. What is surprising is the acceleration of events. There seems to be a script in place, and the actors are racing to the climax.

You would think that the Americans would want to bombard the Iranians for at least six months before committing ground troops. Experts believe that America needs at least 500,000 soldiers for a ground invasion of Iran to be feasible (I believe the number to be two million). It would take at least one year to organize such a force, and to prepare the supply networks.

This Trump administration is allergic to planning, and prefers praying. This worked out miraculously in Venezuela, less so in Iran. This is a war in search of a strategy and a purpose, and perhaps by throwing “boots on the ground” this will galvanize the public, and overnight a million young Americans will volunteer to die for God and country.

If God does not will this miracle then Trump will order a draft, and the streets of America will burn just like in the Vietnam era. Trump’s team do not seem to have a concrete plan for Iran. But they do have a detailed plan to deploy the National Guard nation-wide in case of unrest.

Trump does not have a plan to win the war. He has a plan to lose this war to save the world.
